Summit County is sponsoring an Age-Friendly Celebration on May 13 from 10:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. at Quaker Station in Akron.
Presentations will highlight past efforts, current programs and how adults 50+ can be more active and engaged in their communities. Ohio AARP State Director Jenny Carlson will provide the keynote address. The event will also feature a panel with County Executive Ilene Shapiro, Akron Mayor Shammas Malik, University of Akron President Robert Nemer and President & CEO of Direction Home Akron Canton Abigial Morgan.
Parking and lunch are included with the $20 admission fee. All are welcome to attend! Registration is available at https://tinyurl.com/AgeFriendlyCelebration. The registration deadline is May 5.
This event is being presented by the county in conjunction with the Akron Bicentennial Commission, Leadership Akron Next, Age Friendly Coordinating Council Akron/Summit County, Direction Home Akron Canton Area Agency, The University of Akron and other community organizations.
