The Akron Board of Education will make a decision on the employment status of APS Superintendent, Dr. Michael Robinson, by April 28.

Akron Public Schools officials issued a statement indicating that’s what would happen next, now that Robinson has been placed on Administrative leave following the release of a report on the findings of an investigation into allegations against him.

The report, they say, revealed “multiple credible accounts of bullying, intimidation and retaliation by Superintendent Robinson against APS employees, including administrators and staff,” and “were substantiated by interviews with 16 current and former APS employees and supported by information from many witnesses. We acknowledge that much of Superintendent Robinson’s concerning conduct is in clear violation of the APS Code of Conduct and is simply not acceptable conduct by a school official.”

As a result, “The Board is committed to taking swift action regarding his status, and we anticipate a final decision will be made by the next scheduled Board meeting on April 28, 2025.”

In the meantime, Mary Outley, who is currently the Executive Director of School Leadership in the district, will serve as Interim Superintendent.
