A 57 year old man living in a van near Turkey Foot Lake in Green, got into a beef with a woman who lived on the property where he was staying, and threatened to cut off the tails of her kittens.

Then, he did it, put them in a container, and threw them at her.

At least, that’s what the Summit County Sheriff’s office alleges happened in the case of Bret Stalnaker, who is behind bars now, charged with felony Animal Cruelty.

In a press release; Sheriffs say the two got into an argument on Friday, April 11, and that Stalnaker then sent the woman text messages stating he was going to cut the tails off of her cat and 9 day-old kittens, which they allege he did later that day.

When Sheriffs Deputies arrived after getting a call from the woman, they say they ordred Stalnaker to get out of his van, and when he did; they noticed he had an object in his hand, which turned out to be a loaded .45 caliber pistol, which he then threw at the deputies.

After arresting Stalnaker and taking him to jail; deputies took the injured kittens to a local veternarian, where they are recovering.
