Hundreds of people, young and old, gathered today in and around Hardesty Park in West Akron as part of a national day of protest against President Trump’s policies, Elon Musk, and actions such as job and service cuts at federal agencies, as well as the imposition of sweeping trade tariffs.
The crowd spread out along both sides of West Market Street near the park, holding signs, chanting, and waving as cars passed by, many of them honking; some filled with people who waved their own signs out their car windows.
The event was part of a national effort by a group called “Hands Off!”, to stop what they are calling the “most brazen power grab in modern history”.
Other “Hands Off” events were scheduled for today in a number of Northeast Ohio communities, including Kent, Strongsville, Chagrin Falls, and Cleveland.
