How would you like to get up close and personal with Zoo animals this summer?

Well, you can, if you register your kids or maybe even your whole family, for an Akron ZooCamp experience this summer.

ZooCamp is the Akron Zoo’s popular summer camp, with full day camps available for kids, ages six – eight and nine – 12. Half-day camps are also available for teens, ages 13 – 16, and families.

This summer features new camp themes, offered during different weeks.

Themes include dinotastic, extreme animals, mad scientists and more. Camp activities include a tour of the zoo, a chance to meet zoo staff and animal zookeepers, up-close animal encounters and crafts. Each camper receives a camp t-shirt.

One-day half camps are also available for families and teens. Junior Zookeeper Camp offers teens, ages 13-16, the opportunity to work alongside zookeepers and get a hands-on experience on what zookeepers do on a day-to-day basis.

Family Camp offers families the full camp experience and is perfect for children not ready for the longer camps. This camp includes the fun activities of ZooCamp for families, ages three and older.

Registration is available at akronzoo.org/zoocamp. Spots fill quickly.

The Akron Zoo is open 361 days a year. Off-season hours are 11 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Admission rates are $11 – $21. Children under two are free and parking is free.
