A 40 year old woman was severely injured when she was struck by a car while crossing West Market Street in Akron, on Tuesday evening.

Police say it happened at about 6:08PM, at a marked crosswalk in the 1800 block of West Market Street.

The driver of the car stayed on the scene, and police say speed does not appear to be a factor.
