If you live in Cuyahoga County, you may want to double-check your voter registration.

According to Cleveland.com, the Cuyahoga County Board of Elections has flagged about 11,000 voters whose identifying information, like a driver’s license number, Social Security number or date of birth, doesn’t match state or federal records.

Those voters are being marked as “must vote provisional,” meaning they’ll need to correct their information in order for their ballot to count. If the information isn’t verified, their registration could eventually be canceled.

Election officials say voters can update their information ahead of time through the Board of Elections or at the polls, but those who wait until Election Day will still have to cast a provisional ballot.

The change stems from Senate Bill 293, passed last year, which tightened voter registration requirements. It also eliminated the previous grace period for absentee ballots. Now, absentee ballots must be received by the time polls close on Election Day to count, with limited exceptions for military and overseas voters.

Some registered voters in Medina County have reported the same issue.

With the May primary approaching, officials are urging voters to check their registration early to avoid any issues.
