As we head into round one of the State High School Football Playoffs we have nine local teams alive and well award. It all starts Friday night with Walsh Jesuit (#1) seed in Division II playing host to West Geauga. The Warriors are 8-1 on the season.
Tallmadge, winners of eight games in a row, will play host to New Philadelphia on Friday as well. The Blue Devils have not lost since Labor Day Weekend.
Also on Friday in Division II, Highland travels to Avon and Kent-Roosevelt plays host to Warren Howland.
Saturday night features most of the local teams playing on the road. Wadsworth (9-1) goes into Stark County to tangle with the Eagles of GlenOak. Manchester goes on the road to play Black River, a team that defeated them back in September. Jim France has guided the panthers now for 40 years.
Also Saturday, Mogadore on the road against Youngstown Christian, STVM travels to University School and Hudson will host Findley.
